Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry fly hook, 10-16
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Body tinsel Opal/pearl mirage (1 strand)
  • Wing calf tail White calf body hair (small clump)
  • Hackle Brown hackle (1-2 feathers)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base and wrap the opal tinsel forward to form a flashy body over the rear two-thirds.
  2. Tie in a clump of white calf tail as a Trude-style downwing angled back over the body to near the bend.
  3. Trim the wing butts and wind a brown hackle collar in front of the wing.
  4. Build a small head and whip finish.
