  • Hook AHREX NS172 (curved caddis/grub), 8-12
  • Thread White or beige Semperfli Nano Silk 30D

Materials

  • Lead-free wire - (.015, underbody)
  • Uni thread (underbody cover) White/beige uni thread (cover the wire)
  • Kiley's Nymph Skin (natural latex) Natural case (abdomen)
  • Magic Shrimp Foil Pink ears (racing stripe)
  • Gordon Griffith 14/0 thread Brown thread (lateral lines)
  • Golden pheasant center tail barbs Natural pheasant tail fibers (legs)
  • Waterproof marker Blush pink (back tint)

How to tie it

  1. Wrap a lead-free wire underbody along the shank of a #10 AHREX NS172, cover it with Uni thread, and whip it smooth.
  2. Start the Nano Silk and tie in a strip of natural latex nymph skin at the bend for the abdomen.
  3. Tie in a strand of pink Magic Shrimp Foil at the bend as a racing stripe, plus a strand of brown 14/0 thread on each side for lateral lines.
  4. Wrap the latex nymph skin forward in overlapping turns to form a segmented, translucent grub abdomen; tie off short of the eye.
  5. Pull the pink foil up the center of the back and the brown lateral lines along each side, then tie them down.
  6. Tie in golden pheasant center-tail barbs as short legs at the head.
  7. Build a small thread head, whip finish, and cement, then lightly tint the back with the blush-pink marker.
