Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Long-shank streamer or heavy wet hook, 8-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Tungsten or brass bead Silver or gold slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Lead-free wire Natural lead wire (8-12 turns)
  • Marabou Black marabou (1 tail clump)
  • Flashabou Silver flashabou (few strands)
  • UV Polar Chenille Silver / pearl uv polar chenille (1 length)
  • Cock or hen hackle Black hen hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, then wrap 8-12 turns of lead-free wire behind it and jam them against the bead to lock it; start the thread and bind the wire flat.
  2. At the bend tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, then a few strands of silver Flashabou over it, slightly longer than the tail.
  3. Tie in a black hackle by its tip and a length of UV Polar Chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the Polar Chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, sweeping the fibers back as you go; tie off and trim.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward through the body in 4-5 open, evenly spaced turns; tie off behind the bead and trim.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
