Olsen's Tungsten Taco Egg Sockeye

Egg · Salmon · Steelhead · Trout · Beginner · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Barbless jig hook, 14-16
  • Thread Pink 12/0 or 18-denier

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold or fluorescent pink slotted tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Eggstacy / egg chenille Sockeye (salmon pink) (1 short length)

How to tie it

  1. Drop the slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and seat it at the eye.
  2. Start the thread behind the bead and lay a short, tight base at the 60-70% mark.
  3. Tie in the tip of the sockeye-pink Eggstacy just behind the bead.
  4. Make 2-4 touching wraps packed tight behind the bead to build a dense ball; tie off and trim.
  5. Whip finish under the egg, then pick the yarn out so it puffs into a round egg that folds over and hides the bead.
