  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), 14-20
  • Thread Black 16/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Silver bead (1)
  • Floss tag Fluorescent hot pink (Glo-Brite #2) (short length)
  • Wire rib Silver wire (short length)
  • Perdigon body Iridescent purple material (1 strand)
  • Ice dub thorax UV black ice dub (tiny pinch)
  • CDC collar Natural gray/dun cdc (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a silver slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and seat it against the eye.
  2. Start black thread and wrap a base to the bend.
  3. Tie in a short tag of fluorescent hot-pink floss at the bend, a hook gap long; this is the rear hot spot.
  4. Tie in fine silver wire and a strand of iridescent purple body material.
  5. Wrap thread forward to the thorax, wind the purple body forward in touching turns and tie off, then counter-wrap the silver wire in 5-6 open turns.
  6. Dub a short UV-black ice-dub thorax, then tie in a natural CDC feather and take 2 turns for a soft, mobile collar behind the bead.
  7. Whip finish; the black body, pink tag, and silver rib combine into the classic euro attractor that gives the fly its name.
