  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), 14-18
  • Thread Black 12/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon tail fibers Natural pardo (small bunch)
  • Perdigon body Natural olive/brown material (1 strand)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (short length)
  • Hot spot collar (optional) Orange permanent marker (a few turns)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (thin coat)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a copper slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and seat it against the eye.
  2. Start black thread and lay a thin base to the barb.
  3. Tie in a sparse coq de leon tail one shank length long and trim the butts.
  4. Catch in fine copper wire and the olive/brown body material at the tail.
  5. Wind the body forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, building a slim natural taper; tie off.
  6. Counter-wrap the copper wire in 5-6 evenly spaced turns for a subtle rib, then tie off and break.
  7. Optionally add a short orange thread hot spot behind the bead, whip finish, then coat the body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure.
