  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), 12-20
  • Thread Brown 16/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon tail fibers Natural pardo (small bunch)
  • Micro Fritz body Dark brown/rootbeer cactus chenille (1 length)
  • Hot spot thread/floss Hot orange body silk (a few turns)
  • Hare's ear dubbing collar Natural hare s ear dubbing (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a copper slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and seat it against the eye.
  2. Start brown thread and lay a base to the bend.
  3. Tie in a sparse coq de leon tail one shank length long.
  4. Tie in the dark-brown Micro Fritz and wrap it forward in touching turns to about the 70% mark; the fritz body is durable and needs no rib.
  5. Lay a narrow band of hot-orange thread or floss just ahead of the body as a hot spot.
  6. Dub a small natural hare's-ear collar behind the bead and pick it out for legs.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead.
