Olsen's DNA Worm

Nymph · Egg · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/grub hook, 8-12
  • Thread Red 16/0

Materials

  • Life Flex strand Red buzzer wrap (1)
  • Life Flex strand Fluorescent pink rear bump (1)
  • Thread Red thread (as needed)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (small drop)

How to tie it

  1. Start red thread at the center of the shank and build a short thread bump.
  2. Hold one red and one fluorescent-pink strand of Life Flex together across the hook at mid-shank.
  3. Twist the two strands together into a single rope, then bind the twist down at the center with several tight turns, leaving a long tag fore and aft.
  4. Trim each tag to about one shank length so the worm has a wiggly section reaching past the eye and past the bend.
  5. Build a small red thread head over the tie-in, whip finish, then lock the wraps with a tiny drop of UV resin so the strands cannot pull free.
