  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), 16-20
  • Thread Black 12/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Silver or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon tail fibers Natural pardo (small bunch)
  • Perdigon body Dark violet (or dark copper) (1 strand)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (short length)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (thin coat)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a silver (or copper) slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and seat against the eye.
  2. Start black thread and lay a thin base to the barb.
  3. Tie in a sparse coq de leon tail one shank length long.
  4. Catch in fine copper wire and the dark-violet body material at the tail.
  5. Wind the body forward in touching turns to just behind the bead to form a slim baetis silhouette; tie off.
  6. Counter-wrap the copper wire in 5-6 open, evenly spaced turns for a subtle rib, tie off and break.
  7. Whip finish, then coat the whole body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure.
