  • Hook jig nymph hook, #12-#18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon fibers Natural pardo (for tail)
  • Tying thread (body) Black thread (for body)
  • Ice Dub Peacock/UV black ice dub (for thorax)
  • Fluoro fibre / floss collar Fire orange (for hot-spot collar)
  • CDC Natural dun cdc feather (optional collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and mount the hook, starting thread behind the bead.
  2. Tie in a short Coq de Leon tail at the bend, about half a hook-length long.
  3. Build a smooth thread body forward to the thorax area.
  4. Dub a small peacock Ice Dub thorax behind the bead.
  5. Tie in a bright fire-orange collar just behind the bead as the hot spot; add a turn of CDC if desired.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
