Slide the bead onto the jig hook and build a thread dam behind it (no lead) by pressing the bead against your finger and wrapping until it seats tight.
Strip a small clump of fluffy fibers from the side of a yellow-dyed pheasant rump feather, roll and fold them into a bunch, trim flat, and tie in a short tail about a body length long.
Tie in the dark-olive chenille, strip the core to expose it, and wrap it forward to about one millimeter behind the bead; trim.
Prepare another yellow pheasant rump feather by cleaning the fluff, tie it in by the tip right behind the bead, and cinch tight.
Fold the fibers back and wrap the feather forward as a soft hackle, folding it back with each turn, then tie off and trim the stem.
Build a small red thread head, whip finish, and varnish.
