- Hook Standard wet fly / spider hook, 14-16
- Thread Greenish-yellow (Pearsall's Gossamer) 8/0
Materials
- Silk Greenish-yellow Pearsall's Gossamer, waxed (full body)
- Body The waxed greenish-yellow silk (shank)
- Hackle Feather from a starling's quill (starling wing covert) (1 turn)
How to tie it
- Run the greenish-yellow silk from behind the eye to above the barb and back to the two-thirds mark; the silk itself is the body.
- Tie in a soft grey covert from a starling's wing by the tip at the two-thirds mark.
- Take one sparse turn of hackle and secure with two turns of silk.
- Stroke the fibres back, build a small head, whip finish and varnish.
