Hook Up-eye steelhead/salmon iron (e.g. Alec Jackson), 7
Thread Fire orange 50D
Materials
Ultra Wire Brassy
Pheasant tail dubbing
Pheasant rump Reddish orange
Partridge Natural (mottled brown) partridge
How to tie it
Start thread and wrap back to about mid-shank; tie in brassy Ultra Wire and bind it down forward toward the eye.
Twist pheasant-tail dubbing onto the thread and dub a sparse body, keeping the rear thin, and leave a small dubbing ball at the very back to prop up the rear hackle.
Wind the dubbing forward, then counter-wrap the brassy wire rib forward in open turns and helicopter it to break it off cleanly.
Tie in a reddish-orange pheasant rump feather at the front and take just a couple of turns for a soft, mobile collar; tie off.
Tie in a natural partridge feather and palmer it as a soft-hackle collar in front of the rump.
Whip finish a tapered head close to the eye; cement optional.
