How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye, add a few turns of lead-free wire behind it, and start thread.
  2. Tie in gold wire rib at the bend, then dub a fat, lightly segmented burnt-orange abdomen over the back two-thirds.
  3. Rib the abdomen with 4-5 open turns of gold wire and tie off.
  4. Dub a darker brown thorax behind the bead, leaving room for a collar.
  5. Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and take 1-2 turns of soft hackle for legs, sweeping the fibers back to the hook point.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
