MFC UV Spicy Squirrel dubbing (thorax and head) Black Stone (A small pinch)
Permanent marker (optional) Dark permanent marker (To shade the back of the body)
How to tie it
Start the black GSP thread behind the eye and lay a smooth, thin base back to the bend of the hook. Keep it slim, the latex body shows every lump.
Tie in the Nymph-Rap latex strip at the bend by its narrow end and bind the tag down.
Wrap the latex forward in slightly overlapping turns under light, even tension to form a segmented, tapering abdomen, stopping about two-thirds of the way along the shank. Secure it with firm thread wraps and trim the excess.
Optionally shade the top of the abdomen with a dark marker to give the body a two-tone back.
Dub a small pinch of black UV squirrel dubbing onto the thread and wrap a short, slightly fuller thorax in front of the abdomen.
Tie in a partridge feather by the tip (or a small bunch of partridge barbs) and take one or two turns as a soft collar, then stroke the barbs back and down so they sit as legs, and trim the stem.
Set two wood duck fibers along the top of the fly as antennae, angling back over the abdomen, and lock them down.
Dub a small head over the tie-in points, whip finish and add a drop of cement.
