Classic Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater popper hook, 2/0-2
  • Thread White 210D 210D

Materials

  • Tail Bucktail or SF blend, long (full)
  • Flash Flashabou (generous)
  • Head Cylinder foam popper head, flat face (1)
  • Eyes 3D adhesive (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the saltwater popper hook and start 210D thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a long, full bucktail or SF-blend tail one and a half to two shank lengths long.
  3. Layer in a generous amount of Flashabou through the tail so it flares and flashes.
  4. Whip finish the thread wraps and coat them so the tail bind is bombproof.
  5. Slide the flat-faced foam cylinder head onto the shank up to the eye and glue it firmly in place with the flat face forward. That face is what makes the bloop.
  6. Stick a 3D adhesive eye to each side of the head.
  7. If fishing toothy water, coat the eyes and head seam with epoxy or UV resin for durability.
