Bead Black nickel bead (tungsten bead)
Body Green shell lip (nutria dubbing)
Ribbing Gold middle (Uni wire)
Thorax Dark permanent marker (nutria dubbing)
Hot spot Orange permanent marker (Veevus thread)
How to tie it
Bead the G600 with a black nickel tungsten and start GSP thread behind it. GSP is thin for its strength, which matters here because nutria is a coarse fur and you need to be able to clamp it down without bulking the fly.
Tie in the gold wire rib at the bend, then dub a body of green nutria over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
Rib forward with gold wire in five or six open turns and tie off. Nutria guard hairs pull out easily under teeth, so the wire is doing real structural work here, not just decoration.
Dub a darker nutria thorax in front of the body, keeping it loose so the guard hairs stand proud as legs.
Build a small orange Veevus thread hot spot directly behind the bead and whip finish.
Pick the body and thorax out with a needle and fish it deep on a dead drift.
