Nuke Egg

Egg · Trout · Steelhead · Salmon · Beginner · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Egg hook, 8-12
  • Thread Orange or pink 6/0

Materials

  • Body Egg yarn (round)
  • Veil White McFly Foam (wispy over top)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the egg hook, build a round core egg of orange or pink yarn with the X-wrap-and-single-cut method.
  2. Before the final trim, lay a thin wisp of white McFly Foam over the top and lock it with the same wraps.
  3. Gather everything up and trim in one cut. The white veils the bright core in a milky halo.
  4. Cement the thread wraps.

Substitutions

  • Body instead of Egg yarn: Glo Bug Yarn — Standard egg yarn; McFlyfoam — More translucent base
  • Veil instead of White McFly Foam: White Glo Bug Yarn (sparse) — Similar veiled effect; White Ice Dub (tiny pinch) — Sparkly veil
