Materials
Uni-Mylar tinsel Gold (silver on the reverse) (One strand, gold side showing)
Chenille, small Black chenille (A short length, core exposed at the tie-in end)
Hen hackle Black hen hackle (One feather, two or three turns)
How to tie it
Mount the hook and lay a black thread base along the shank. It does not need to be pretty, the chenille covers it.
Tie in the Uni-Mylar silver-side-up (so the gold shows once it flips over on the first wrap) and bind it down to the curve of the hook.
Prepare the small black chenille by stripping the fibers off the end to expose the bare core, and tie that core in at the bend for a slim, secure start.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the eye and tie it off. Keep the wraps snug so the core does not show through and the body stays fluffy.
Rib the body forward with evenly spaced open turns of the mylar tinsel, gold side out, tie it off and trim.
Prepare a black hen hackle by cutting a small triangular notch at the tie-in point, tie it in and take two or three turns as a soft collar.
Stroke all the barbs back, build a small head, whip finish and varnish.
