Nomad Cat's Whisker

Streamer · Trout · Beginner · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL wet/streamer, down eye (e.g. Kamasan B830), 10-12
  • Thread White 6/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten nugget bead Gold bead (1 (tied back from eye))
  • Marabou White marabou (tail and short wing)
  • Fritz / chenille Fluorescent chartreuse fritz chenille (body)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold tungsten bead onto the shank but DON'T seat it at the eye. The Nomad's signature is the bead riding about a third back so the fly sinks level, not nose-down.
  2. Start thread, wrap to the bend, and tie in a slim white marabou tail one shank length long.
  3. Tie in fluorescent chartreuse Fritz at the bend and wrap the body forward in touching turns up to the bead.
  4. Half-hitch behind the bead to trap it, cross the thread in front, and tie in a short white marabou wing over the back reaching to mid-body.
  5. Build a small front body from the bead to the eye, whip finish, and cement.
