Reference Recipe

  • Hook jig hook (e.g. TMC 708), #6-12
  • Thread black 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Purple bead (1 (3-5.5mm to conditions))
  • Marabou Blue/purple/gray blend (tail)
  • Flashabou Blue flashabou (few strands)
  • Sili legs Barred rubber legs (2 sets)
  • Ice dub / dubbing To match dubbing (body + collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the purple slotted tungsten bead to the eye of the jig hook and start the thread.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail (a blend of blue, purple, and gray) at the bend, about one shank long.
  3. Add a few strands of blue Flashabou over the tail.
  4. Tie in fine sili legs to splay along the sides.
  5. Dub a fat, buggy body forward to just behind the bead.
  6. Add a collar of contrasting dubbing (or a second set of sili legs) behind the bead.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
