How to tie it
With the bead pushed back, capture white ostrich herl at the front of a size 14 Daiichi 1760 and take two or three turns for the gills, then push the fibers up and over so almost all of the ostrich sits on top. The bead will hide the rest.
Tie a bunch of turkey fibers in on top, centred, long enough to fold back over the bead later, then build a small thread dam in front. That dam stops the bead sliding too far forward and crushing the gills.
Whip finish, slide the 3/32 brown bead up against the dam, and restart the thread one bead length behind it. You have already got the start of your taper by doing that.
Tie copper brown wire in behind the bead and run it back to the barb, then capture a single strand of olive buzzer wrap at the rear and wind it forward with touching turns, letting the rusty brown thread show through for a dirty olive effect.
Fold the turkey fibers forward over the bead and tie them down with a couple of wraps, then rib the body with six or seven turns of wire and helicopter it out.
Coat the body thinly with UV resin and cure, resin magnifies the underbody, which is exactly what makes the rusty brown show through here.
Finish with three or four turns of peacock herl behind the bead, cord the thread up by spinning the bobbin clockwise so you can sneak a narrow whip finish in behind the herl without matting it down.
