Materials

  • Tail #4 GloBrite Floss
  • Body Medium Opal Mirage Tinsel
  • Wing Yellow PolyPro Macrame Yarn
  • Head/Overwing Yellow Nature’s Spirit Emergence Dubbing
  • Head/Overwing2 2 Yellow CDC Feathers
  • Head/Overwing3 Bleached Coastal Deer Hair (Home Dyed Yellow) or Standard Deer Hair

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base; if desired, add a tiny red foam or thread butt at the bend, since Sallies show a reddish egg sac.
  2. Bind a thin strip of yellow 2mm foam in at the bend.
  3. Wrap the foam forward in overlapping turns to the 70% mark for a segmented body; tie off and trim.
  4. Tie in a bleached elk downwing at 70%, tips to the bend, and trim the butts short.
  5. Tie in one brown and one grizzly hackle.
  6. Wind both together in 4-5 turns at the front and tie off.
  7. Whip finish and cement.
