Reference Recipe

• Hook barbless jig hook (e.g. Hanak 400), #16-20
• Thread brown 18/0 nano silk

Materials

• Glass bead Tan glass bead (1 (to hook size))
• Life-Flex / spandex Tan carapace (1 strand (body))
• SLF / bug dub Medium brown slf bug dub (pinch (thorax))

How to tie it

1. Slide the glass bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
2. Bind a single strand of tan spandex in at the bead and wrap a thin, smooth thread base back to the bend.
3. Return the thread to just behind the bead.
4. Wrap the spandex forward in touching turns to build a slim, glassy, segmented body. Stretch it thinner at the rear and ease off toward the front for a subtle taper. Stop behind the bead.
5. Tie off and snip the spandex.
6. Dub a tiny brown thorax collar right behind the bead.
7. Whip finish behind the bead and add a pinhead of cement.
