Start black 8/0 thread and dress the shank three-quarters of the way down the bend, then wind back up a hair.
Tie in a tail/trailing shuck of wood-duck-tan mallard flank about twice the shank length, tearing the tips even; bind the butts down under a solid thread base and trim.
Spin olive UV2 caddis dubbing onto the thread and wrap a slightly tapered body forward to just in front of the hook point.
Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and palmer three to four wraps as a soft-hackle collar, then stroke all the fibers back against the body.
Dub a slightly heavier ball of the same olive dubbing in front of the partridge to build up the head/thorax.
Whip finish and set the head with UV resin (e.g. Loon UV), curing it with the light.
Finish by picking out the dubbing with velcro or a dubbing teaser all around to give a spiky, buggy body that blends into the partridge collar.
