Start UNI 8/0 black thread and dress the TMC2457 three-quarters of the way down the bend, then come back up just a hair.
Tear the tips even on a clump of Mallard Breast, wood duck tan and tie it in there as the tail/shuck about twice the shank length; make one loose wrap first, then follow the butts back down the shank, trim, and bury them under a good thread base.
Spin Spirit River UV2 Caddis/Nymph, olive onto bare thread - no wax needed - and wrap a slightly tapered body forward, stopping just in front of the hook point.
Tie in a section of Natural Partridge tip first at the front of the body and sweep the fibers back, getting rid of the smallest tips or laying them back.
Palmer the partridge three to four wraps as a collar, then stroke every fiber back against the body so it reads like a soft hackle.
Dub another clump of the olive dubbing in front of the partridge and build a deliberately heavy head, rounding it off with a few extra turns.
Whip finish and seal the head with Loon UV resin, curing it instantly under the light.
Tear into the body all round with velcro or a dubbing teaser until it is spiky and buggy - the tyer calls this the most important part - so the dubbing fibers blend into the partridge collar.
