Spine flash Silver flashabou (15 strands)
Adhesive Softex or Liquid Fusion (as needed)
Belly UV silver Ice Wing Fiber (1 clump)
Back Yellow/olive Ice Wing Fiber (1 clump)
Eyes 3D stick-on (2)
How to tie it
Start thread at mid-shank. Tie in a sparse clump of SF Blend extending two to three shank lengths behind the bend. This is the fly's spine.
Tie about fifteen strands of Flashabou over the SF Blend, the same length.
Coat the rear two-thirds of the spine fibers with Liquid Fusion or Softex and let it set so they fuse into a semi-rigid quill. WHY: the stiffened spine stops the long soft materials from fouling around the hook, letting you use far more mobile fibers than a normal baitfish pattern.
Tie in a clump of UV silver Ice Wing Fiber under the shank as the belly, extending to about two-thirds the spine length.
Tie in yellow (or olive, or gray) Ice Wing Fiber on top as the back, slightly longer than the belly, and build a small neat head.
Whip finish, stick on 3D eyes, and coat the head with epoxy or UV resin, letting a little wick into the front of the body to hold the profile.
