Hackle Hot orange cock with dyed-blue guinea fowl over (1 + 1)
Wing Yellow-dyed squirrel or bucktail with black over (2 sparse bunches)
How to tie it
Wind a short gold tag above the hook point.
Tie in the gold rib and wrap a slim black floss body to the 80% mark; rib with 5 evenly spaced turns.
Tie a beard hackle of hot orange cock fibers under the shank, reaching to the hook point.
Add a few fibers of blue-dyed guinea fowl over the orange. The orange-under-blue throat is the fly's signature flash of color.
Tie a sparse wing of yellow-dyed squirrel, then a slightly longer sparse layer of black squirrel over it, extending just past the bend. Keep the wing low and slim.
Build a neat black head, whip finish, and varnish.
