  • Thread black Ultra Thread 280 Denier

Materials

  • Weight Lead-free .025 round wire
  • Flash Red Krystal Flash
  • Body Black estaz
  • Legs Orvis Barred Sexi Legs
  • Collar Spun deer hair
  • Conehead Large silver brass conehead

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold cone onto a 4X-long streamer hook, seat it behind the eye, start the thread, and lay a base.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank-length long at the bend, with a few strands of flash on each side.
  3. Tie in a saddle hackle and a length of chenille (or Estaz) at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the cone, then palmer the hackle forward over it and tie off.
  5. Optionally tie in a set of barred rubber legs along each side.
  6. Stack and spin a bundle of deer hair just behind the cone, letting the tips flare back as a collar and the butts form a small head.
  7. Pack and trim the deer-hair head, whip finish behind the cone, and cement.
