Materials

  • Tail Wapsi Midge Flash
  • Wing CDC Oiler Puffs
  • Hackle Dry Hackle Cape

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and lay a thin base back to the bend.
  2. Tie in a strand of root-beer braid or Krystal Flash and leave a short glassy trailing shuck off the bend, under half a shank long.
  3. Build a slim tapered thread body forward to the 65% mark.
  4. Stand a small clump of white CDC or poly upright at 65% and post it with several tight thread turns around its base to make a vertical parachute post.
  5. Tie in a dun hackle at the base of the post and take 3-4 turns horizontally around the post, sweeping fibers rearward, then secure under the post.
  6. Dub or thread a tiny thorax at the eye, whip finish, and add a pinpoint of cement to the wraps only.
