Mop chenille (body) Light dun / gray (or color of choice) mop chenille
Ice Dub (thorax) UV brown ice dub
Superglue / Zap-a-Gap
How to tie it
Slide a 3/16" bead (small hole first) onto the scud hook and mount it. Start the thread and cover the shank; trim the tag.
Cut a mop-chenille 'finger' about an inch long. Touch a drop of Zap-a-Gap to the cut end and roll it to lock and stiffen it. Lay it on top of the shank, sized to about twice the shank length, with two loose wraps, then pull down and add two tighter wraps; trim the front tag.
Lash the mop down toward the bead over the front third of the shank (it will rotate around the hook, which is fine), stopping where the thorax will be.
Dub a little UV-brown Ice Dub onto the thread and wrap a short thorax up to the bead.
Half-hitch (or whip finish) behind the bead and cut the thread.
