  • Hook Heavy nymph/beetle hook, 8-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Tail Black ostrich herl (Mop chenille fingerlet)
  • Overbody Chartreuse arctic fox (Foam, cut one hook-gap wide)
  • Body Chartreuse arctic fox (Cactus or trilobal chenille)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and lay a base along the shank to the bend.
  2. Tie in a single mop chenille fingerlet at the bend as a tail, leaving it a shank-length long so it can wiggle.
  3. Tie in a foam strip one hook-gap wide over the top of the shank and bind it back to the tail.
  4. Tie in chenille at the front, wrap the thread back, then palmer the chenille forward to just behind the eye.
  5. Fold the foam forward over the body and secure it with light wraps.
  6. Whip finish and seal the head.
