Deer hair or poly Natural/hi-vis (small clump for head/indicator)
How to tie it
Start thread mid-shank and bind a tan mop finger on top so the rounded tip sweeps just past the bend for the fat hopper abdomen; wrap forward to pin the butt at the 60% mark.
Lay a hook-gap-wide foam strip over the mop, bind it down at the 60% mark, and pull it back to form a low overwing shell for the body.
Figure-8 a pair of barred rubber legs on each side at the 65% mark so they kick out and slightly back.
Fold the foam forward again and bind at the 80% mark to build a segmented foam head, trimming the front into a blunt hopper nose.
Tie in a short clump of hi-vis poly or deer hair over the head as a sighter, then trim.
Whip finish under the foam head and add a drop of cement to the thread.
