Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, barbless, 12-18
  • Thread Yellow (hotspot) / body-color underneath 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold/copper bead (1 (2.0-4.0mm))
  • Coq de Leon fibers (tail) Pardo (small bunch)
  • Flex Floss (body) Yellow floss (1 strand)
  • Thread hotspot collar Fluorescent orange thread (-)
  • UV resin (coat) - (thin)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a sparse tail of Coq de Leon fibers at the 75% mark, about one shank length long, and wrap the thread base smoothly back over the shank.
  3. Tie in a strand of yellow Flex Floss at the rear and wrap it forward in touching turns to build a slim, tapered body up to just behind the bead; tie off and trim.
  4. Switch to fluorescent orange thread and build a short hotspot collar right behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish, then coat the entire body and collar in a thin layer of UV resin and cure for a glassy, fast-sinking finish.
