Crosscut rabbit or palmered schlappen (body) Olive schlappen or saddle hackle (1 strip/feather)
Flash Copper flashabou (few strands)
How to tie it
Bind a pair of dumbbell eyes on top of the shank one eye-length behind the eye, figure-8 tight so the fly rides hook-point-up, and cement.
At the bend, tie in a rabbit strip tail about one shank length long, hide side down, and add a couple of copper flash strands.
Tie in a crosscut rabbit strip (or schlappen) at the bend and palmer it forward in touching turns, stroking fibers back on each wrap, up to just behind the eyes.
Figure-8 a bit of the rabbit or a dubbing collar around the eyes to fill the head.
Whip finish behind the eye, snip, and cement the wraps.
Wet the fly and stroke all the fur rearward so it slims to a breathing leech profile.
