Savage Flies dressing

  • Hook dry fly or terrestrial, 10-12
  • Thread Body color

Materials

  • Tail Natural deer hair
  • Head 1-2 mm foam (color to match body)
  • Wing Natural deer hair
  • Legs Rubber
  • Thorax Any fuzzy dubbing

How to tie it

  1. Attach thread, wrap to the bend, and tie in a natural deer-hair tail.
  2. Tie in a clump of deer hair at the bend by the butts, tips rearward past the bend, then wrap thread forward building a slim body.
  3. Pull the deer hair forward over the top to the eye and tie down, forming a bullet head with the tips projecting over the eye.
  4. Tie in rubber legs on each side, crisscrossing them to form an X.
  5. Whip finish behind the projecting deer-hair tips.
