Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 2XL dry fly, 6-12
  • Thread Yellow 6/0

Materials

  • Deer hair Natural deer hair (Tail and pulled-over body/head)
  • Thread or floss Yellow floss (Body underlay)
  • Round rubber legs White or yellow rubber legs (2 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Attach thread, wrap to the bend, and tie in a natural deer-hair tail.
  2. Tie in a clump of deer hair at the bend by the butts, tips rearward past the bend, then wrap thread forward building a slim body.
  3. Pull the deer hair forward over the top to the eye and tie down, forming a bullet head with the tips projecting over the eye.
  4. Tie in rubber legs on each side, crisscrossing them to form an X.
  5. Whip finish behind the projecting deer-hair tips.
