Black hackle fibers or goose biots (tail) Black mayfly tail fibers (2)
Chenille (abdomen) Black chenille (1 length)
Chenille (thorax) Yellow chenille (1 short length)
Saddle hackle Black saddle hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Lay 10-12 wraps of lead-free wire over the shank for weight and cover with thread, ending at the bend.
Tie in a short forked tail of two black biots or a small clump of black hackle fibers, about a third of a shank long.
Tie in the black chenille and wrap it forward to the 60% mark to form a fat abdomen; tie off there.
Tie in a black saddle hackle by the tip at the 60% mark, then tie in the yellow chenille and wrap it forward to just behind the eye, forming the thorax.
Palmer the black hackle forward through the yellow thorax in 4-5 open turns, tie off behind the eye, and stroke the fibers down and back.
Build a black thread head, whip finish, and cement.
