How to tie it
Set the 25mm Waddington Shank in the vise and lay a really good base of UTC Black 140 thread the length of it, so the wire has something to squeeze onto.
Lash the pre-cut Senyo's Intruder Trailer Wire down hard along the shank with the tag standing off the back about three quarters of an inch to an inch, long enough that the size 4 Owner No Escape hook can be swapped out later.
Lock the Red Spirit River Real Eyes in on the underside, leaving yourself plenty of space in front of them to finish off the head.
Pick out a small bunch of black Senyo's Laser Dub and tie it in at the back of the shank so it skirts the trailer wire. Bring the thread back a little, divide out the forward section and fold it under, then fold the rest up to complete the skirt. Keep it open, not dense, so it forms a tapered ramp for the next layer.
Roll eight to ten fibres of copper Kreelex around the thread and tie them in so they reach back to the ramp. Splay them a little with your fingers before adding thread pressure and locking them in.
Lash in a small bunch of black Kreelex and palmer it forward to cover the shank body.
Build a dubbing loop, drop in a roughly inch-long chunk of black UV Ice Dub, pick out any stray Kreelex bits and spin it up loosely so the fibres stand out. Wrap it forward as a collar to just behind the eyes, then pick it out top and bottom.
Fold eight to ten fibres of red Kreelex around the thread as a throat, pull them down to the shank and wrap right around the circumference of the eyes at their base. Trim the throat to about an inch, matching the dubbing off the back.
Turn the fly back over and fold a bunch of black Kreelex over the thread as a topping, lash it tight and trim it about half an inch shorter than the copper tail, then splay it out a little.
Finish the head with black Senyo's Laser Dub, a section on the bottom and a slightly denser one on top, shortened by tearing the ends back. Wrap forward toward the eye, fold the dub back over itself and build thread behind it to hold it, then finger-twist and brush the head out.
