Slinky Fiber Red ep fibers (One chunk cut in half, teased out)
Slinky Fiber Black ep fiber (Three chunks, two full and one slimmer, one heavily teased out)
Bucktail (rear) Black, long fibers (One bunch, spun around the shank)
Bucktail (front) Black, short fibers (One bunch, spun around the shank)
Epoxy or UV resin (head) n/a (Enough to seal the head and close the eye gap)
How to tie it
Mount the predator hook and lay a thread base at the rear of the shank.
Cut a chunk of red Slinky Fiber in half, tease the ends out, pull out any oddball fibers, and tie it in at the very rear to put a little color deep inside the fly.
Take a chunk of black Slinky Fiber, tease it lightly, and tie it in near the rear leaving enough length to fold the front portion back over itself; fold it back, lock it in, and spread the fibers evenly around the shank.
Take a second, similar chunk of black Slinky Fiber and tease it hard. It should stretch from about 12 inches to 18 or 20, then tie it in by the middle, fold the front back, and spread it all the way around the shank.
Tie in a third, slimmer chunk of black Slinky Fiber cut in half and teased out, just behind the middle of the shank, fold the short ends back and spread them evenly around; you should now have a tapered body in the round. Lock it with a few finishing wraps.
Take a bunch of long black bucktail straight from the hide without teasing or thinning it, hold it against the shank, spread it evenly around, and give it a tug so it flares out; wrap the tips down with close thread wraps.
Take a bunch of the shorter, softer bucktail from the lower part of the tail for the front, spread it around the shank the same way and bind the tips down. It may take a couple of passes to catch them all.
Wrap thread right up to the eye to close the tiny gap on the hook eye (fine bite wire can slip through it), building a neat head.
Whip finish, color the white thread head black with a marker, and seal the head with epoxy or UV resin.
