How to tie it
Lay a thread base and tie in a Magnum rabbit strip tail at the bend, hide side down, about one-and-a-half shank lengths long. Wet the fur to judge length.
Add a few strands of flash along each side of the tail, kept sparse.
Dub or spin a stout, wide body of Senyo's Laser Dub forward, brushing it out as you go to fill the flat sculpin profile. Stop about one eye-length short of the front.
Tie a short rabbit strip flat on top of the shank running forward-to-back as a 'mohawk' dorsal fin. This raised strip is the pattern's signature broad silhouette.
Slide the Fish-Skull Sculpin Helmet onto the eye, seat it against the body, and lock it with tight thread wraps behind it; the heavy helmet flattens the head and sinks the fly fast.
Whip finish behind the helmet, snip, and glue the head in place.
