Slide the Orange Brass Bead to the eye and lay a body of .010" Lead Wire along the middle of the shank, then start the Red UTC 70 thread and cover it.
Measure a clump of Claret Marabou against the straight portion of the shank for the tail, bind it in on top of the shank with several wraps until it is secure, and trim the excess clean.
Lay two strands of Red Krystal Flash along one side of the fly and secure them there, wrapping forward and doubling the long extra piece back over itself so it is bound in twice. Trim the flash to the length of the tail.
Tie in the Wine UNI Mohair at the rear and advance the thread all the way forward to the bead.
Wrap the mohair forward, one wrap placed in front of the last, drawing the fibres out ahead of each turn so you trap as few of them as possible. At the front, pull out as many fibres as you can so several stand up right behind the bead.
Secure the mohair rope behind the bead, trim it off, and whip finish right behind the bead.
Comb the mohair out with a dubbing brush and give it a haircut so the fibres hang back only just over the tail, with the majority standing up and around the fly as a halo.
