Materials
Slotted bead Chartreuse (orange is the alternate) (One)
Marabou (tail) Black (Hends) (One folded package torn from the stem)
Pearl flash or Angel Hair (tail flash) Pearl flashabou (A strand or two per side, very sparse)
Straggle string / straggle chenille (body) Black estaz (One strand)
CDC (front collar, in a dubbing loop) Black (Hends) (Enough for 2-4 turns)
How to tie it
Slide a chartreuse slotted bead onto the jig hook, mount it and start the Nano Silk behind the bead.
Prepare the marabou by tearing it off the centre stem, folding it over on itself and tearing again, repeating until you have a small fluffy package.
Measure the marabou so the tail extends about a shank length past the bend, cut it square, and tie it in tight right behind the bead. Crank down hard, this thread will take it. Trim any over-long fibers.
Add a strand or two of pearl flash (or Angel Hair) along each side of the tail, just a suggestion of flash, not a lot.
Tie in the black straggle string and wrap it forward, stroking the fibers back with each turn so they spike out; stop one turn short of the bead so there is room for the CDC.
Brush the body out so the fibers all spike.
Form a waxed dubbing loop behind the bead, clip in black CDC, and spin it with a dubbing spinner into a spiky rope.
Take two to four turns of the CDC loop right behind the bead, stroking the fibers back each turn, then tie it off.
Whip finish three or four turns, cut the thread, and brush the CDC out so it stands off the fly.
