Materials
Cone head Gold cone (One)
Marabou (tail) Golden olive marabou (One pinch, tail length)
Crystal Flash Pearlescent with a tea tint (A few strands, folded)
Ice chenille (body) Golden olive gel core micro fritz (One strand)
CA (super) glue n/a (A drop behind the cone)
How to tie it
Slide a gold cone onto a size 4 streamer hook, mount it, and start olive 6/0 thread behind the cone; run a base back to the bend.
Tie in a golden olive marabou tail at the bend, about a shank length long.
Lay a few strands of pearlescent Crystal Flash on top of the tail, take a couple of wraps, fold the strands back over and trim them to the length of the tail.
Tie in the golden olive ice chenille at the rear.
Wrap the ice chenille forward in touching turns, building a slight taper, up to the back of the cone.
Put a drop of CA glue in the back of the cone and ram the chenille hard into it, packing it tight so the cone is squared up on the shank. Side-to-side alignment matters most, because a cone canted to one side spoils the way the fly swims.
Hold the pressure until the chenille is bedded in, bind it tight and trim the excess.
Finish behind the cone with a whip finish (or half hitches) pulled good and tight, and a touch of CA glue on the wraps so the thread cannot unwind around the cone.
