Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard nymph or scud hook, 16-20
  • Thread white 12/0

Materials

  • Mono or micro tubing Clear weed guard (short length)
  • Pearl tinsel / mirror flash Pearl flashabou (1 strand)
  • Antron or fine dubbing White/clear antron or fine dubbing (pinch)
  • Small dark bead or thread dot for eyes Black bead (1)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thin white thread base along the shank.
  2. At the bend tie in a few short fibers of white Antron for the tail, no longer than the gap.
  3. Tie in a strand of pearl mirror flash and a length of clear mono over the shank.
  4. Dub a slim, translucent white body forward to just behind the eye, keeping it sparse.
  5. Wrap the pearl flash forward over the body in open turns for a mirrored sheen, then follow with the clear mono as a protective rib and tie off.
  6. Add a tiny dark spot or bead at the front for the eyes, whip finish, and seal with a thin coat of UV resin for a translucent, glassy look.
