Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Up-eye salmon/wet fly hook, 4-8
  • Thread Red 6/0

Materials

  • Tag Silver metal tape (oval tinsel)
  • Body Olive-green material (floss or silk)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (oval tinsel)
  • Wing Grey polar fibre (grey squirrel tail)
  • Collar hackle Lemon yellow (1 hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and wrap a short oval silver tag at the rear.
  2. Tie in the silver rib, then build a smooth olive-green floss body forward to behind the eye.
  3. Spiral the silver rib forward in 5 even turns and tie off.
  4. Tie in a sparse grey squirrel tail wing over the body reaching to the bend.
  5. Wind a lemon yellow hackle as a front collar and sweep it back.
  6. Build a red thread head, whip finish, and cement.
