  • Hook wide-gap wet/lure hook, short shank, 8-12
  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • Foam booby eyes (in mesh) White thin fly foam (1 pair)
  • Mink zonker strip Black/olive cross cut rabbit (1 strip)
  • Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Ice Dub or chenille Black/olive ice dub or chenille (for body)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and tie in a pair of foam booby eyes crosswise so they sit at the very front, figure-eighting to lock them.
  2. Wind thread back to the bend and tie in a mink zonker tail one to one-and-a-half shank lengths long with a few strands of flash.
  3. Dub or wrap a plump body of Ice Dub or chenille forward from the bend to just behind the foam eyes.
  4. Whip finish tight behind the eyes and add a drop of cement.
  5. Trim any bulk so the foam eyes sit clean and the fly floats nose-up.
