Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Rear MFC 7052 vertical-ring; Front 7050 (articulated bangtail), Rear #4, Front #2
  • Thread Olive/yellow to match 6/0-210

Materials

  • Holographic Flashabou Fire Tiger (a few strands (flash))
  • Schlappen or rooster saddle Yellow saddle hackle (tail)
  • Marabou Yellow marabou (underwing)
  • Buggerbou mini barred Olive/brown buggerbou mini barred (wing)
  • Surflon micro wire (19-strand) - (connection)
  • Polar chenille UV gold polar chenille (body)
  • Marabou / bucktail Yellow belly, olive back (collar and two-tone head)

How to tie it

  1. On the rear MFC 7052 #4, start thread and tie in a yellow schlappen/saddle tail a shank-plus long, with a few strands of fire tiger holo Flashabou on each side.
  2. Tie in a yellow marabou underwing, then an olive/brown barred Buggerbou wing over the top; build a small head and whip finish the rear hook.
  3. Double a length of Surflon micro wire, lash it to the front 7050 #2 shank, run the loop through the rear hook eye and back, and lock it down to set a short articulation gap.
  4. On the front hook, tie in a length of UV gold polar chenille and wrap it forward to form the body; tie off behind the eye.
  5. Stack a yellow marabou belly and an olive marabou back to two-tone the head area.
  6. Build the two-tone head (yellow underside, olive top) with stacked marabou or bucktail, then whip finish and cement.
