Materials

  • Bead (tungsten or brass) Black/copper bead (1)
  • Pine squirrel zonker strip Black/olive/rust pine squirrel zonker strip (1 strip)
  • Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (2-4 strands)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. At the bend tie in the tip of a pine squirrel strip so the hide points forward and the fur tail extends one shank length past the bend, plus a couple strands of flash.
  3. Advance the thread to just behind the bead.
  4. Wrap the squirrel strip forward in touching, non-overlapping turns, stroking the fur back each wrap so it doesn't bind down, and tie off behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
