Reference Recipe
- Hook streamer, 3XL, 8-12
- Thread black 8/0
Materials
- Gold tinsel or wire Gold oval tinsel (1 strand)
- Fox squirrel tail Natural brown deer hair (1 small bunch)
- Grizzly hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)
- Red thread or floss butt Red floss (few turns)
How to tie it
- Start thread behind the eye and wrap a smooth base to the bend.
- Tie in the gold tinsel and wrap it forward in touching turns to form a bright body, stopping at the 80% mark, then tie off.
- Tie in a sparse fox squirrel tail wing on top, reaching just past the bend, keeping it slim so it swims.
- Select a grizzly hackle and palmer 4-5 open turns over the front third as a soft collar, then sweep the fibers back and tie down.
- Add a few turns of red at the very front as a hot butt behind the eye.
- Build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
