Mini Glo Yarn Egg

Reference Recipe

  • Hook short-shank egg/scud hook, 12-16
  • Thread hot orange 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Egg yarn (Glo Bug yarn) Hot orange or pink egg yarn (2 short lengths)
  • Egg yarn (hot dot, optional) Red poly bear fibers (1 small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread at the midpoint of the shank and lay a short base.
  2. Cut two short lengths of egg yarn, stack them across the top of the hook and secure with 2-3 tight wraps at the midpoint.
  3. Add a small tuft of contrasting yarn on top for a blood dot if desired, binding at the same point.
  4. Gather all the yarn upright, pull it straight up away from the hook and take a couple of tight thread wraps at its base to bunch it.
  5. Whip finish at the base of the yarn, then cut the bundle into a small domed egg shape with one snip, leaving it just covering the hook.
  6. Add a drop of cement at the base to lock the yarn.
