Classic Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gape barbless nymph/grub hook (Hanak 900BL or Fulling Mill grub), #10-12
  • Thread Fluorescent orange (or match) 70 denier UTC

Materials

  • Foam tail/arse Small booby-foam cylinder (about 5-6mm) at the rear for buoyancy (1)
  • Body FNF Jelly Fritz 10mm, Biscuit (cream/tan) (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and, at the REAR of the hook, tie in a small booby-foam cylinder so it sits over the bend; this buoyant arse floats the fly.
  2. Tie in the biscuit Jelly Fritz just ahead of the foam.
  3. Wrap the fritz forward in touching turns, stroking the fibers back each turn, to just behind the eye; tie off.
  4. Build a small neat head, whip finish, then pick/stroke the fritz fibers out into a round blob.
